![]() On the front cover of _The Hobbit_ it is clearly printed: "The Prequel to the 'Lord of the Rings'". ![]() Most made the same "I don't read" mistake then: Only the dinosaurs will not love that future. I guess maybe if a repeat of "Vinyl" happens but you'll be paying 50+ dollars a disc for the privelidge of whats under 20$ over IP and (in 2030's) dirt cheap cost of storage. In time there def could be 12-bit video with less compression (basically nominally visual), better color resolution, never banding using AV1 to be the same bitrates and end-point file sizes as 4K remuxes achieve now. ![]() ![]() But now its a lock in the last 2 years of signals. This has been said 100 times before the BDA made their intentions clear. BDA isn't in charge of the future and they can also change their minds.īut whats resolution got to do with that idea? You can have 8K televisions but the physical media is still 4K UHD, and the next 'format' they just have it via download/streaming, not disc. Video will take a while, but in the future you really can't say for sure on any of this. Like I said they corps might find they want to sell 8K televisions and there isn't anything to sell them with.Īlso, no format has in media ever essentially not gone lossless at some point.
